Ed Yale is the founder of Concho Investment Advisors. Ed has over 30 years of experience in securities and investments, mainly as a Wall Street “quant” analyzing and evaluating complex financial investments.
Ed began his career in investment banking in the late 1980’s performing bond research with Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Dallas and with Bear Stearns in Dallas and Los Angeles. In this role, Mr. Yale advised banks, insurance companies, money managers, and other financial institutions on the risk/return characteristics of bonds and bond portfolios, generally evaluating the most complex structured investment products. In the 2000’s he worked in Austin Texas providing analysis on structured bonds. During the financial crisis of 2008, Mr. Yale worked with Amherst Securities helping clients make outsize returns by shorting complex financial products.
While in Austin Mr. Yale taught investment management and other finance courses as an adjunct professor in the Finance Department of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
In 2009 he moved to San Angelo Texas where he and his wife can be more involved in the oversight of the family’s ranch. During this time Mr. Yale worked with Equifax’s Capital Markets Group to research, develop, and market new investment management products. In that role Mr. Yale traveled extensively, mainly to New York.
In 2017, Ed founded Concho Investment Advisors as an independent financial advisor to offer unbiased financial advice and leadership.
Mr. Yale earned dual undergraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, including a BS Economics from the Wharton School of Business and a BS Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering. He received an MBA from the University of Texas, earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2000, and earned the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) in 2020.
Ed lives in San Angelo, Texas with his beautiful wife. Ed’s three grown children are now pursuing their own careers. When he is not active as Assistant Ranch Hand, he may be found running, biking, or hiking. He enjoys serving his community, currently serving as the Treasurer at the San Angelo Performing Arts Coalition, as a Board Member of the Texas Southwest Council of the Boys Scouts and as a member of the Rotary Club of San Angelo.
